There's at least one player who's read the books, possibly more, so it would be nice to see their comments regarding how well the game holds up to canon, so I'm making a thread specifically for that.
There were a couple of deliberate changes made, such as:
(a) Rennie's power being limited instead of permanent
(b) Germain Degas being human and not Pack
(c) Messing around with the timeline (for example, Janet Haze was converted and dead long before the Temple was in the picture)
(d) Some names (Bridget didn't have a last name, so she stole one from a character who didn't have a first name; Zlotnikov and Pender's cult names are inaccurate - I did reread book 4 and found Zlotnikov's correct cult name is Zip, but never did find Pender's)
(e) Probably some more that I can't recall off the top of my head.
I'll also address SisterCoyote's PM comment here:
:crap she wants to involve color in this discussion:
Ah, well see, um...in your case, no you don't keep your powers. Kat figured out how we were able to do that and keep it fitting with the world, but I don't actually remember how we justified it. You have to go to her with anything relating to color I, uh, haven't gotten around to reading the books yet. :smack: Though I really intended to before we re ran this game. And I want to, they sound great and I feel like I have read them at this point, or at least a cliff notes version of them...
We do try to make everything follow the color though. Let us know how we did when things are over won't you? It'll be interesting to have someone who actually knows the color in the game.
The reasoning behind losing their powers (colorwise) is that they lose all their personal desires in favor of Hex's so why, for example, would a converted-Indigo care enough to avenge her lover anymore? Why would Sam care anymore about backtracking the actions of some insignificant human, when there's recruiting to be done.
Christina gets to keep hers because, colorwise, she's not actively healing or protecting a person, she's just hanging around, and the "protection" is actually the Temple's reaction to her presence.
A recruited Power Role is still free to reveal any previously received information to Hex, of course, since canonically, all that info would be passed on unthinkingly.

I have a question:
If a Town power role (such as mine) is converted to Alien, are they still a Power Role, or a generic Child of Hex?
Of course, going by the game world the Aliens should automatically pick up all the Power Role's knowledge, but.
