Here's what we need to decide off the top of my head:
(1) Do we want to add some kind of Protector, since otherwise the scum will know that there is not one.
(2) Do we want to make any tweaks to the Town Cop, as suggested after the end of Alien Taste 1, to balance out the Aliens not being able to kill him? Note: Since Town should now know that Temple is Anti-Town, Temple is more likely to kill the Town Cop, so that may help balance it, too.
(3) Do we want to make any tweaks to the recruiting?
More as I think of it.
I do plan to put together some new Vanilla roles and rotate out some of the previous ones (or maybe use them all, if we get enough players).

Oh, and once we've settled on the Role PMs for the rerun of the game, we should move any unused ones to Alien Taste 1.

Last first,
3) I think the recruiting worked perfectly. Leave it as it is. 2) I think temple knowing what's up will be a good bit of balance, but we might be able to play with the cop a bit. I remember having some ideas for it right after the first one ended, I'll need to refresh my memory. 1) I think we have to get a protector in there somehow. But I am not sure how yet. If we could keep it from being a normal doctor that would be my preference. Of course we don't need to be totally open about how the roles play out in that respect.

Well, we can use Zoe, who is a candy striper and future doctor (but she's only 13 so she hasn't had a lot of training yet). I'd like something more fun than an X% chance of success, but can't think of anything.
Another possibility would be Hellena, who doesn't have any medical training that I'm aware of, but she seems to patch up/keep an eye on Ukiah when he gets hurt quite a bit.
Canon-wise Hellena would be immune to recruitment, but we can make her not immune without hurting much. Canon-wise Zoe would NOT be immune and is in fact "turned" at one point (but gets turned back using adapted alien tech).

Oh, another possibility is instead of a Doctor-type protective role, we could use Christina as a...I dunno what to name it. In canon, she's a Temple initiate (and Grant's girlfriend, the reason he has a hard-on for them). They make a point not to do anything wacky (like murdering innocent civilians) in front of her, lest she dump them and take away all her lovely trust fund money. So if the Temple has targeted a person that Christina is protecting, they hold back to keep from offending her. We could even add a twist that if Christina's target happens to be the Temple Member chosen to do the Nightkill, the same thing happens.
Christina didn't really have a problem with kidnappings or other violent acts, she just drew the line at murder it seems (maybe the protected target could show signs of getting beaten up overNight).

Oh, that is interesting. Could we translate that beating up into something negative for the person who has been protected that will effect them in game? Maybe have their vote stolen or something like that? No, we are already using a vote stealer with the third party players aren't we. So not vote stealing but something like that. Something where even if the protect is sucessful, something sort of bad still happens.

Let me think on it.
One possibility could be restricting that person to a certain number of posts that Day, but I'm sure one of us should be able to come up with something more fun.

Will we want to eliminate a Vanilla and/or add an extra Temple Member (or give Temple a Power Role) to balance out the Protective Role with the benefit of knowing when a Protected player was targeted?

I don't know yet. I am trying to think of a good thing we can do to the player still, but I have nothing. I think we have to figure out how badly that player get's hurt before we can figure out the rest of the balance. I am inclined to say no, we don't need to mess with the overall numbers, but I am not totally sure yet.

I haven't come up with any good ideas for Christina either. Not even when we opened up the wine on Saturday night after the wedding. I'm going to stew over it a bit longer, and then start writing up new-Vanilla PMs, as much as Christina's as I can put together, and maybe one or two new-Temple PMs (so that we can rotate out at least one Temple name).

rats. My life this past week has sucked and I haven't even been able to think of anything. I am going to read some other people's mafia sights to see if I can't find something neat someone else has done.
Back later with any discoveries.

Something else that I just thought of today:
I was toying with putting Cally in as an actual role and making a new sample Vanilla PM just for kicks, but then I had an idea. What if we put her in as a Voteless Townie (since she's too young to vote, see)? Of course, the problem with this would be that we've already got a vote-stealer, so that would make 2 Townies without votes per Day (except when Grant hits Temple).
Maybe we could make her vote only count as half a vote?
Let me know what you think.
Also: Want to use the same opening color as AT 1?

I am ok with reusing a lot of the stuff from Alien Taste 1, almost no one who was in that game is in this one (a good thing).
I don't know about adding a voteless townie to the mix. I was just about to sit down and run a final balance so I will tell you for certain in a few minutes.

If it doesn't fit in, I now have the urge to sign up to mod another game just to put in a voteless townie.

Found 2 named Temple members, and cherry-picked Temple names for them (since neither one of them were ID'ed in canon by their Temple names). We can rotate out 3 of the old Temple PMs now.
I would say to keep either Ice or Core of the old PMs or, if we cut the Temple team down to 3, use the 3 new ones. If balance seems to swing overly-Town, we could either keep 4 or make one role an Innocent Child type. If we keep 4 and still need more balance, we could make Ice or Core a Godfather (Why the difference, you ask? Because none of the new 3 had any sort of leadership role canonwise, so I'd feel wrong calling them a Godfather. Innocent Child is basically the same thing, without any connotations of leadership.).
